1dp3dt (1 day past 3-day transfer): What I've learned so far

Bed rest is not for wimps. After 24 hours, not only am I bored to tears (not that I'm doing the schoolwork on my to-do list, which would keep me busy and occupied), my muscles and joints (especially my hips) are already feeling the atrophy. Props to the mamas who do this for months on end to ensure healthy baybees.

I've also had loads of time to consult with Dr. Google.

Word on the interwebs, including from some MDs, is that three-day transfers at clinics (like ours) that normally do five-day transfers are nothing more than a face-saving/ass-covering maneuver. They'd rather the embies die inside the mama than in the lab. That way it's "our" fault, not their fault. According to these sources, the line (which we were fed yesterday morning) that the natural environment is better is, in fact, a bunch of bunk. Embryos that will thrive will thrive anywhere. I hate to think of our wonderful doc, whom we adore, lying to us like that. But whatevs, either these embryos will make it or they won't. And it is kind of nice to be PUPO (pregnant until proven otherwise) for a few days!

On the other hand, the internetz are full of stories of successful day three transfers of 7-cell embies. And so despite my neverending pragmatism, I can't resist that wee, bright spark of hope that keeps returning.
